DISCUSSION
This week, Captain Spike and First Mate Slagkick pay tribute to the late Satoru Iwata, Nintendo’s beloved president who passed away suddenly earlier this month, by celebrating his life and legacy. Iwata-san’s passion for gaming helped turn a game development club with friends into HAL Laboratory, and the talented programmer soon found himself involved in projects with Nintendo, as he built a relationship between the two companies. Working his way up to become president of HAL and later Nintendo, he revolutionized the industry with the introduction of the DS and Wii, and all the while fostered a company culture that games should be fun for everyone. The Podcast PIrates provide an oral history of his career and share their memories of him while discussing his legacy within Nintendo and the greater gaming industry at large.
WHAT’S UP
