Game Buoy Podcast Episode 12 – Under Appreciated Gems

Ahoy and welcome to Game Buoy, where Captain Spike and his first mate, Slagkick, bring you gaming news and views that may not be on your radar, but definitely should be.

– Sega is releasing Crazy Taxi for iOS, but what’s notable is the return of the original soundtrack, which was left out of the PC port and the recent HD re-releases. Unfortunately, the Pizza Hut and KFC licenses were not renewed!

– At New York Comic Con 2012, Capcom announced Darkstalkers Resurrection, an HD re-release of the second and third games in the Darkstalkers franchise for XBLA and PSN. Even more exciting, perhaps, is the teaser trailer called Darkstalkers Are Not Dead, suggesting a new title in the franchise is on its way.

NBA Baller Beats was a huge flop, selling a dismal 3,000 units in its first month.

Anarchy Reigns hits January 8, 2013 at a $30 price point!

– Sony Online Entertainment announces Everquest Next at SOE Live 2012.

Bioshock Infinite is due out February 26, 2013 and has an awesome gameplay trailer.

– Nippon Ichi has announced Disgaea D2, a direct sequel to the first game in the series.

This week, the Podcast Pirates take a look back at some of their favorite under appreciated gems. They start by looking at some games that are typically considered the least loved in their franchise: Final Fantasy VIII, Super Princess Peach, and Mega Man X6. Next, the Podcast Pirates share their favorite cult classics: PaRappa the Rapper, Um Jammer Lammy, Chip ‘N Dale: Rescue Rangers, Tiny Toon Adventures, New Zealand Story, Barbie, and Demon’s Crest. Finally, Captain Spike highlights two relatively unknown RPGs published by Enix: E.V.O.: Search for Eden and Robotrek.
